I was just approved by my insurance co. yesterday. I have chosen Dr Evanson as my surgeon. The office is telling me it will still be 3 more months. Has anyone had any experience with his office and if so does it really take that long

Barb, Some surgeons are in very high demand..so yes, it can take 3 months. Look at it this way, the wait indicates how much people think of him! . Congrats on your approval! The time really will fly right by. Sherri

I know two people first-hand who went to him and both RAVE about him. I don't know about the wait, of course, but to hear them talk, he is worth it! (I did not go to him for my RNY)

I first saw Dr. Evanson in November and I'm just now getting my surgery. April 6. I have only seen him twice and that was because he spoke at a support meeting I had attended. He certainly seems enthusiastic about this surgery. I've heard he lies in bed at night thinking of ways to make people "dump". I thought that showed a pretty good sense of humor. I'm sure we'll get to know each quite well before its over. Good Luck, Deb

Deb, Thank you for responding. I'll bet you are really getting excited! Are you having lap-band or RNY? What kind of test did you have to have prior to surgery? I am so ready for this. Gaood luck on Friday. Barb

I am having RNY for several reasons. I had all my pre-op tests done last Monday. It took about 3-4 hours. They draw blood, get a chest X-ray, do an upper GI, a GB ultrasound, EKG, and after all that I saw their physician for a physical. The doc I got was Dr. Mick. He was very nice. Friday night my grandkids came over and gave me a whopping cold so, I made an appt with my family doc Monday and he put me on an antibiotic for 5 days. I was scared they would opt to reschedule me but Dr. Evanson's office said as long as I don't have a fever Friday It will be OK. Yesterday morning at 07:30 Dr. Evanson's office called and he wanted me to get a stress test today! That freaked me out but it was OK, and I'm feeling better so it looks like a go. I'm making my final trip to the grocery today, need all those yummy foods here when I get home Sunday. Thanks for listening to such a long response. Deb

He spoke at the support group meeting this month and he knows what he's talking about. Seems like he's got lots of experience doing WLS too. Also, seemed like a very pleasant person. Floyd

It does of course help that he's absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! Waking up to that face after surgery is a huge plus... but he is really good at what he does. He assisted my surgeon on my surgery and I've been waiting since NOvember and just had mine done last week Jessyca

Jessyca, Thank you for responding. Did you have RNY or Lap-band? How are you feeling? What kind of pain medicine did he give you? I am hoping to get by with Ibuprofen 800mg. I am so ready for this. Good luck, Barb
