Has anyone had the operation along with your husband? How far apart did the doctor allow you to do the operations? What were some of the difficulties you experienced? We're hoping we won't have to be cut open but he won't be able to tell each of us till he sees us. Stacy

I think there are a few couples on here who have both had surgeries. It can be done. Good luck with your appointments with the doctor. Linda Vicory

Stacy, Brenda and I had our surgeries in April 2006. She had hers on April 7th and I had mine on April 18th. Originally the surgeon wanted one of us to wait three months, but we didn't like that idea, so he scheduled me for April 11th. Then they wouldn't do the surgery until I saw a cardiologist, therefore, it was delayed a week. He agreed to do ours fairly close because we agreed to have a caretaker. Brenda's mom came and took care of us for a couple weeks until Brenda could start driving. Having the surgery together made it so much easier. It was hard when she went to pureed foods and I was still on liquid and when she went on solid foods. I whined and talked the doctor into letting me start afew days earlier than normal. We both had Open RNY which required alittle more recuperation time, but it all went well. If you have any other questions of either me or Brenda, let me know. We're happy to help in any way we can.
