Whaa! Crab pie, don't use canned crab!!

Hello, I was so excited about Sherri's crab pie from Saturday that I rushed out Monday night and bought all the stuff. I thought if imitation crab was good, the real stuff will be better, right? Wrong! I bought 3 cans of the canned 'lump' crab. Well, I didn't see a lump in there. It was pulverized crab! I made it anyway. Well, it still tastes ok, but not like Sherri's. Since the crab/cheese mixture was mush, the bisquick mixture just laid on top and cooked like a biscuit. Which was ok, just not what I was craving. I think I'm going to take off the biscuit and use the crab/cheese mixture as a dip on a cracker. I'll try again next week, but this time with the imitation crab chunks!! Tania

Tania, I have a great crab cheeseball recipe I'll have to give you...Its a healthy choice recipe I got yrs ago. I havent made it since my surgery since in class they told us not to use imitation crab becouse of all the sugar thats in it. However after having Sherris Crab I had to run out and buy 2 packs of it. Now Im craving my cheeseball. I'll let u know the details when and if I find it tonight. I made the crab casserole yesterday but I messed on up the onion...and used a reg one and not green onions. It was great but I'm gonna double the crab next time and use the green onions....I think it will make it that much better. Last night Andy and I had it again just after midnight and Im thinking about having some for breakfast....hope I dont get sick of it. We still have alot left since I can only have small portions still

Hi Tania, I just thought I'd let you know my Dietician said imatation crab is OK!! There isn't enough measurable sugars to worry about- her words, not mine. I used the canned stuff before too, YUCK! Mariah, Post your carb dip on here -please??!! I love dip and it would help to have a good one to serve at my get togethers. (((hugs))) Ellen
