Questions
Tomanip,
Welcome to Indiana. I hope you enjoy living here. At least you are looking at coming here in the spring. Also, welcome to the IN board. You will find that we are a close, supportive group who welcomes all new-comers...pre or post-op.
If you look under 'bariatric surgeons' for Indiana, you will find several options. Many of them do accept post-ops, others do not. Since you are relocating to Indiana and need someone for your aftercare, you have a better chance of getting someone to take over your care than someone who is dissatisfied with their local surgeon and want to switch. Several places offer support group meetings. Since you are moving to Noblesville, I would recommend your checking with the bariatric program at Community North (this would be the closest for you) or the one through St. Vincent Carmel.
I, personally do not know much about Community North since I went through St. V's.
At St. V's, there are several surgeons who have accepted post-op patients for what-ever reason. Dr. Inman and Dr. Jones are two who come to mind. The support group meets several times a month...twice on the north side of town (1x each for the west side and south side...none for the east side). Since you will be on the east side also (I'm near Lawrence), you would most likely prefer one of the north side meetings. The one on the 2nd Monday of the month is usually less crowded.
Let us know when you get all settled in and please, feel free to come and post anytime.
Sherri

Hi,
I have a question, if you don't mind. I live in Indiana but can't afford to selfpay here so I am having surgery in Pennsylvania, the DS. Do you know of any support groups in Indiana that would allow a patient of another surgeon to attend? Some local support would be nice, just in case.
Thanks!
Thanks Sherri,
I really appreciate the information.
Don't know yet when we will be moving.
Our son-in-law got transfered to Indy due to the BRAC(yes it's a four letter word) cut backs. He and our daughter and our only grandkids are going so Poppa and Nanna are to.

I'll keep this letter so as to have the reference when we do move.
Thanks again for the info and the warm welcome!

Hi and welcome to the Indiana board.
I would strongly recommend the Clarion Bariatrics Program. I had my surgery through the Community Hospitals Network (also here in Indy), but have recently changed to the Clarion group for my follow-up care. The people there are very, very caring. The support groups are fantastic and they offer the ONLY bariatic cooking class in town. However, if you decide to go with another group, you can still attend the cooking classes or any of the support group meetings. You don't have to use them for your follow-up care to attend any of these meetings/classes. I don't have their toll free number, but I know they have one. The local # is (317) 275-7010. Their web address is: www.clarian.org or acalltochange.org
Let me know if I can give you any other information.
Cindy
