Need some advice re Insurance filing
I have my packet back from Dr. Jones office and getting ready to submit it to my insurance company. However my insurance co. has asked that I submit via fax vs mailing in my info. Dr. Jones' office returned everything I took to my consultation in regards to medical records. By returning these to me, does the office intend for me to submit all of the medical records. It is over 200 pages. That is a lot to fax. A hotline specialist from Anthem called me today because of a problem I had getting my company's medical insurance policy faxed to me. She has promised that if I fax this in she will personally follow through and make sure it gets into the system. Anyone have any advice as far as how much to send? Thanks for your help.
i will be more then happy to fax you a copy of the med policy for this. send me a fax number to my email [email protected] and i will fax it to you right away i have like 3 copies.. i work for anthem bcbs..

I work for anthem as well and if you go to www.bluecrossca.com about half way down the page you will see medical policies and clinical um guidelines. then after selecting that link scroll all the way down to the continue button. after doing that click view by section and then scroll down to surgery and look for Surgery for Clinically Severe Obesity. that is the medical policy. if Vicki and I are any consolation to you we were both approved within a week from the recieval of out paperwork in the office. Just make sure you fax all the right paperwork to the correct number because all of mine was faxed to the wrong number at first and had to be refaxed. I think if you just fax them the pertenat information regarding the surgery. I also created a photograpic history of weight that started at the age of 7 and included a photo from every year since and to see myself steadily getting bigger into the biggun I am today is amazing...lol. I also wrote a letter to them explaining why I thought I was a perfect candidate for the surgery. I thought that this would give me a face and identity instead of just a UM case number.
Thank you Vicki and Melynda for your replies. I do have a copy of the Medical Policy. It took three requests before I actually got it and I believe that is why I got the call from the Hotline. When she called, she was very helpful! I guess I will re-look at the medical records I have and try to determine which are the most necessary and fax those. It will still be a high number. There are 52 pages just from the medically supervised program I was on. Again, thanks for your help. Hope I am as fortunate with the rapid positive response as the two of you were!
