well about 2 am I woke up to horrible pain in my left rib cage, my heart was racing, nausea, couldnt breath, i thought it was gas so i started walking and kept walking but the pain kept getting worse i couldnt, walk, sit lie down or anything to escape the pain. I called the emergency line for dr diaz and got dr jones told me to come to indy right away. I didnt have a ride until late this eve. so I called her back to tell her I couldnt get to her and asked if i could go to the local hospital she said yes just have them call her when i got there. so the ambulance came and took me over and the dr called dr jones she was great she told er dr every move to make. come to find out the drain tube had shfted ans was lodged against my rib cage and was putting pressure on my lung. so he removed the tube and almost instantly everything was better. i could breath, wlak, drink my water. the nausea was gone. so I am home again, not doing much though they gave me 4 shots of morphine to help with the pain until they figured out what was need to be done (so please excuse my spelling lol) Ive got 50 protein and 60 fluids in today so I am hoping its enough cause I think I am just going to go to bed.

the water isnt a problem i am so thirsty if i dont have a drink every 2 or 3 minutes i feel like i have cotton in my mouth I got over 60 water yesterday and 77 protein. I tried the protein shake and so then I tried using the 4 cups of 2% milk with 1 cup dry milk and a pack of sugar free pudding and made a thin pudding that goes down great so between it the 42 protein whey vials, and my cheese my protein is easy too. I set the alarm clock for every two hours to walk and take whatever meds are needed. but the water I am sipping the 6 oz. sippy cup in about 15 minutes. I see dr diaz on wed so I am going to ask him if this is a problem

Hi Kathy, Glad to hear it was an easy fix. I actually know someone else at work who had surgery in November and this happened to her, odd. Wow, you get cheese at 1 week from surgery!!! I'm jealous. I had to wait until week three for cheese. That used to be my dinner, an ounce of cheese, a few pepperoni, and 3-5 crackers. I LOVE cheese and Friday night was my first taste of it in several weeks. I'm glad you are feeling better. What a scary thing to wake up like that. I would have freaked. Tania

Wow, four shots of morphine! I would think you'd be pretty sleepy. I'm glad they figured it out, and that you're feeling better. It would have been scary. Linda Vicory

OMG! How scarey! I am so glad it got taken care of and wasn't anything serious. I am 6 weeks out from my RNY (Gupta) and the night I came home from the hospital I had something similar happen. I was having these horrible stabbing pains. I got ahold of Dr. Caccuci and she instantly said it was the drain tube and she talked us through pulling it out right there in the living room! Instant relief! Glad it was the same for you! Congrats on getting the tube out, even if it was a lot of drama! About the cheese, I ate a lot of cheese sticks and cheddar cheese because the cottage cheese grossed me out for some reason. I did not melt it, because I was never told to do that as far as I can remember, and never had any problems with it. Good luck on a smooth ride from here on out! Belle
