Thank you everyone
Hi, my name is Faith and I wanted to introduce myself. I have gotten a lot of valuable information from these boards and I want to thank all of you. My Lap RNY is scheduled for the 16th of March at St. Vincents. I am really excited. I weighed in at the doctors about two months ago and was 327. I now weigh about 305. I had just learned I had diabetes, so I have really cut back on the sweets. I wasn't even trying to lose. I am having some dilemas because I want a few favorite sweets before surgery, but I don't want to mess us my blood count and be denied surgery. Does anyone know how this works? I figure if I have my fling this weekend, it will be two weeks before surgery, and I can stay away from anything sweet from then til surgery. Shouldn't that work?
I am really anxious to know what is going to be on the "other side" of my surgery. I have so much trouble getting around that I can't walk much, and I am so sleepy all the time. I am hoping as the weight comes off and I can exercise more, I will get more energy.
I know I will have lots of questions after surgery. I am not a big "talker," but I want to do everything the best that I can and value the experience that is on this board.
I am 65, have a wonderful husband, three grown kids and 8 grandkids that I want to be able to walk with and play with and spend a lot of time with. I have such confidence in Dr. Evanson and I have let go of the "fear" but still have some "anxieties."
Anyone else having their surgery in March, I hope we can keep tabs on our progress together.
Blessings to all,
Faith
Hi Faith,
I don't know the answer to your diabetes question. But I would think like this... "In the greater scheme of things, what do I want more? The sweets or the surgery?" I am a rehabilitation counselor, and have seen diabetes mess people up really badly. I just wouldn't mess with eating the sweets if you're diabetic.
