I've have a surgery date of April 18th. I have to go to the doctor on March 20th, within 30 days of my surgery. What will this consist of? Getting blood work done and stuff like that?

Congrats on your upcoming surgery! Generally they take blood, breathing tests, upper gi and x-rays. It takes a while to get all of the things done so plan on taking most of the day. It's not painful, just time consuming. Claudette

I see you have Dr. Inman too. I had her for RNY in November. I had one whole day of doctor stuff before surgery. The morning was spent at St. Vincent's doing pre-op testing, and in the afternoon, they sent me to Dr. Mick there in Carmel for a check-up, to give a go ahead to proceed with surgery. The only bad part was the nasty stuff I had to drink for the upper GI. Other than that, no big deal. It was good I did all that too, because they found my gall bladder was full of stones, and Dr. Inman was able to remove it at the same time as surgery. Linda Vicory

Mike, Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I had my RNY exactly one year from your date. It's a great life-changing experience. Good luck and keep in touch. Floyd
