Heather, So many have commented on the 'what to bring' and 'what to have at home afterwards', that I won't. I do have a suggestion on what to do pre-op however...more important that trying to get the hang of the baby spoon (which I had NO problem with post-op). Don't over-indulge on overthing these next few weeks. If you do, you will throw your sugar out of control and the surgey will have to be postponed. That said, go to your favorite places one last time. Order your most favorite from that place. As you eat it, explain to it (and therefore, to yourself) why you cannot eat it anymore. Explain how it is bad for your cholesterol, your heart, your sugar, your weight loss. By the time you have completed your meal, if you are like most who have tried this experiment, you will no longer have a desire to eat that food. Remember that for us, food is our friend. You never just cut ties with a friend unless you have good reasons to. Get in touch with those reasons..every day, for every favorite friend. I call this telling the faves good-bye. I've heard others refer to it as having food funerals. However you want to consider it, try it. It will make things immensely easier when you are post-op because your brain will have heard the reasons and will accept that those foods are no longer a part of your eating itinery. Good luck!
