Happy Sunday
Vicki
I will be praying for you in your attempts with cigs. I was the same way as you, nothing was going to stop me from having my surgery. Do you plan to try the patches, the helped me a lot. There is also Welbutrin, but I heard at the doctor's office last week that there are some newer and better medications then Welbutrin. If you want to go that route, you may want to check with PCP.
As to your question regarding having a drink now and then after surgery. I am 15 months out and have not tried having a glass of wine or beer since surgery. I have been told that when the time comes where you can have a drink that you have to be carefull because one drink is like have 4 or 5. As one person put it, it makes you a real cheap date. Of course you will have to wait until several months out from surgery. My problem was having a diet pepsi after surgery. I am a pepsi holic. My nickname at our church is Pepsi Dan since I always have my 24 oz of pepsi with me. I was able to try it about 3 months out from surgery and had no problems with it. Some people however never are able to drink carbonated beverages after surgery. Of course that is something you would want to discuss with you nutritionist and or doctor.
Now that I have been sitting here posting to you this morning, I am starting to think about trying stop the cigs myself. I have a carton and half left so maybe I will try and do it again. Even my back doctors tell me nicotine does not help with the nerves in my back.
You will find that WLS really does change your life. You have some wonderfull people here on this board to help you both before and after surgery. I had my surgery fifteen months ago and just hit my 200 lb lost mark when I weighed this morning.
Time for a celebration, yep my diet pepsi is sitting right here with me.

HI Vicki,
I too work for Anthem (lytle building) and I had my paperwork sent last friday from St. Francis I will update you on how long it takes to receive a response. I have gotten a lot of good feedback from like 7 different people that it took less than a week for a response but all of them worked for other companies and I am not sure if since we are inhouse they may take longer. I also included a letter and a photographic history of weight starting at age 7 and girl that really hurt to see a pic of me for every year between age seven and now and see myself steadily get bigger and bigger. keep your fingers crossed for me and I will do the same for you!!!!
