i was looking at getting my physic eval within the next week when judy emailed me today and said she could get me in same day as Dr visit .. so its going to be a very busy day for me . eval at 940 then my family doc at 240 then back to st V's for the physic eval. at 430. i have faith that all will go well. i talked to the pre cert department this morning and was told if i have everything in order as per the medical policy for anthem that i could be approved in as little as 3 days. i have my letter from my doc ( which i dont really need) i know i will pass the phycis part of it just a matter of Dr D getting everthing ready for Amy to send to anthem. i was wondering when it comes to the pre ops what all do you have to go through and can it be done in one day ?

Vicki, Where are you going through and what doctor? All of St. V's patient's have 1 day of nutritional class. Then on another day, the pre-op testing. Sometimes, depending upon your health (& your surgeon) you may also have a few additional tests (like cardiac testing). The testing part of it, you'd be best off asking your surgeon at your appointment. Sherri

ahhh see i didnt think about the class .. reason i was asking is because of getting time off work . sometimes its very hard to do being as i work at anthem.do you think that the tests i am going to have at my family doc today might ( keeping fingers crossed ) be able to be sent for some of the blood work?he is also running an ekg . its my yearly check up so he runs all the test under the sun. and sherri i am going to st v's i wouldnt dream of going any other place . they are they best.

Vicki, Who is your surgeon? You are going to love St. V's bariatric wing. They are a bunch of fantastic people. I doubt that the surgeon would use the bloodwork that your pcp requests. They kinda have a standard way of doing things right down to the lovely barium gunk. Pretty much all of the patients going through St. V's gets the same set of basic pre-op tests done. For certain patients, the surgeon may request you have additional ones. It's good that he's having a ekg ran. Not all surgeons require one..and not all of them require it for all of their patients, but at least you'll have that one out of the way. Any additional tests aren't always done on the same day as the pre-op testing. It just depends on if it's something that has to be special schedule or not. My step-dad had to have additional testing done on another date..which meant another trip up from Clinton. The nut class & pre-op testing are usually a few days apart from each other and within a week or two of your surgery. You probably won't get scheduled for them until your approval has gone through and a surgery date set. Until you get the approval, don't sweat it. It'll all come together. Sherri

well just got home from first doc visit . all went wonderfully, he ( Dr Diaz) was thrilled that i had everything i needed already in, well except my letter from my pcp but i got that and will add it to file when i go back at 430 for my nut visit..i know i sound like i am rushing things but i think that is beacuse i want this so bad. i am sure everyone has had the same feeling i am having right now. Dr Diaz is a wonderful person took all the time i needed to ask all my questions and he answered them fully in a way i could understand. will post more after my nut visit . have a great day everyone vicki
