Surgery was cancelled---weather :(

I'm so upset. I got a call at 5:00 this morning. Dr. Clark 'can't get out of his driveway' and cancelled my surgery. I'm very pissed and upset. The man makes a boatload of money and he can't pay someone to come plow his driveway and street!!!! I told them to call him and have him call me and I would go get him!!! I even called yesterday and asked if there was any way this could get cancelled and i was assured that they have only rarely had a cancellation due to weather. My Mom is here from Illinois to help with the kids, FMLA started today. She is going to Hawaii next week and I have commitments in March, so now I can't even get this scheduled until April. Then I have to go through the whole pre-op stuff again. I could scream. Tania

I am sooo sorry!!! I can imagine how upsetting this must be for you,. I know what it would have done for me if it had happened and I hadnt arranged for help. Honestly I still cant get out of my drive.. Handicapped hubby isnt much help and I am the only one snow blowing and shoveling.. Maybe they can put you in soon.. and ask mom if I can go to Hawaii with her..?? Been there done that and got the tshirt!! Linda

Tania, I think I'd be pretty aggrevated too if I were in your position. Now to deal with the FMLA folks at work. That can be a royal pain. I know it was with my foot. Well...maybe your mom can come back & help in April. And on the positive side, maybe it'll be warm enough so you can do some of your walking outside when you are home post-op. Sherri

I feel so bad for you. I would be very mad as well. I agree that he should be there no matter what! I would have at least thought that they would have just rescheduled it for later in the day. Keep us posted.

OH NO! I am soooooo sorry! I can just imagine how I would feel if I were in your shoes. You have every right to feel angry and sad. You had made some really major arrangements for this and then to get it canceled! I would call them today and explain to the scheduler the arrangements have been made and you would like to see if they can get you in ASAP. I am so sorry! April must seem like an eternity away! SCREAM AWAY!!!!!! though I know Dr clark lives in Hamilton CO way north.....I only know this due to one of Ed's emergency room nights and dr clark had to come in and since emergency surgery was going to be done in the morning, dr clark stayed at the hosp the night or what was left of it....my husband said this morning he had a time till he got on the interstate....So i would believe he was not able to make it...does not help you out any I know...as you were so looking forward to this...But things happen for a reason so they say, since i know that also does not help you any....

Oh Tania, I don't blame you for being mad. You not only have made the arrangements for FMLA and care for your kids, but the mental and emotional preparation for the surgery. What a let down. Hang in there! Donna

Man that sucks! I think I would have a tantrum and cry for a little bit! Especially if you had to do the bowel prep stuff. I don't know if Dr. Clark has the same requirements as Dr. Mandelbaum but if so I am sorry for that! If not then be happy! I hated the nasty stuff ya had to drink, and then what it does to you should be criminal! Gross! I will keep my fingers crossed that all works out for Friday! Blessings, Carmen
