Silly money question.
I have Key Benfits for an insurance company and while I know that they approve the surgery, I am conserned on how much money I will have to front in the beginning. Does anyone have any stories on how they handled the extra money that had to be fronted first?
I go on the 26th to the seminar.. but I am so excited that I don't want to wait.. I know... I am a very impatient person!
Any details would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome to the board and congrats on wanting to get started on your weight loss journey.
My insurance (Anthem) paid 100%..and I paid nothing. There was no 'up-front'/reinbursement to it. I think that is how it goes for most insurances. If yours requires a co-pay, you may have to pay that pre-op however. Hope this helps a little anyway.

Linda and I have the same insurance I do believe. If you look at your insurance card, there should be something listed as an inpatient hospital stay and it will list the co-pay amount (if you have one.)
So I paid my $500, plus I bought a bunch of protein samples, crystal light, etc etc. Too bad I didn't like hardly any of it. So just be careful not to spend too much before hand like I did.

Someone said it, but yeah, check your insurance card, or call your company, and find out how much is your copay on an inpatient hospital stay. That will give you a good starting place. I got so lucky with mine... it was at the end of the year, and we had already met all our deductibles, and yearly out of pocket expenses. My entire surgery expense was $2.09 to the surgeon. (Aside from vitamins, and calcium and those types of things.)
