UPDATE ON JENNIE BIGGS
I had an appointment with Dr Cacucci today and while there Ann and I stopped in and had a wonderful visit with Jennie Biggs and her husband Tom. As some of you may know that Jennie use to post here before she had WLS in May 2006. I first met Jennie at our Kokomo Support Group just before she had her surgery. Unfortunately things have not gone very well for her. They told me that since her original surgery she has now been in the hospital off and on for over 152 days. During the original surgery her bowl was nicked and during follow up surgery it was nicked 4 more times. She told me that she had stomach surgery before the WLS and that contributed to some of the problems since then. She has been on a feeding tube every since her WLS. Plus she had stints in place also.
Today Jennie was in a smiling and alert mode. The last time I stopped up to see her in November she was asleep and waiting to go back in surgery again. I visited with Tom for awhile that day. I want to tell you folks Jennie and Tom are the most wonderful couple I have ever been around. Both have very strong Christian faith that they live by day by day in good times and bad. They talk the talk and walk the walk.
By the way Tom had WLS about 2 years ago and has lost over 200 lbs, so he understands what is happening.
Here is an email I received from Tom tonight that explains what is happening with Jennie now, much better than I could:
"Here we go again! Greetings from room 265 of the "Biggs Bariatric Unit" (tongue in cheek) of St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. After several bouts of severe nausea and a 10-pound weight loss due to dehydration and diarrhea in the three days she was home, her doctor admitted her directly back into the hospital. They were unable to administer an IV or draw any blood, so my dear Jennie received her eleventh PIC-line last night. It was around 2:00 am, after the X-rays of the new PIC-line confirmed that it was in the correct place, that they were able to draw blood for tests and start giving her IV fluids, along with pain and nausea medicine. The pain and nausea is a little more under control today, and she is felling a little better. She still has two drains in her abdomen, but they are hoping they will close on their own soon; once they are sealed, she will be able to begin the bariatic diet. Please continue to stand with us in prayer. Jennie's visitors today were Dan & Ann Packard and Misty and Maxwell Bolinger. "
If you happen to be at St Vincent's stop up and say hello. We had the opportunity to pray together today and we are believing that God will see Jennie thru this situation and allow her to get on with her weight loss real soon. When you say your prayers please add Jennie and Tom to your list. I also want to say that Tom has been with Jenny thru all this and is a role model for all husbands. What a guy!!
They have a lap top their in the room. If you would like to send them email here is there addresses:
