Should I have been told about a special diet that I should be on? I know some of you have the same surgeon group. Did you have a special diet a couple of weeks before surgery? I dont have my nutrition class until the 15th and my surgery is scheduled for the 21st. Thanks, Linda

The only pre-op diet I was given was for the day before surgery. I think it's the same for all patients at St. V. So you should be fine. If in doubt, you could call the center and ask about it. Linda Vicory

Linda, I was with the same group. My surgeon was Dr. Gupta. I ate 'normal' through the breakfast the day before surgery. That dinner wasn't much to speak of. You'll be told what to do at your nut class on the 15th. Till then, enjoy telling your faves good-bye! Sherri

Sherri, I thought I had read on the board awhile back where someone said take that last couple of weeks to say good-bye to your old favorites, but then so many people were talking about liquid diets a couple weeks before to shrink the liver before surgery. I was worried that I was mistaken, because the doctors office had never said anything about it. Thanks for your information. I am finding that a lot of questions are popping up in the last few days as I get closer and closer to my surgery. It is so reassuring to have others who have been through it to rely on for quick answers. This Indiana board is really great! Thanks again, Linda

Linda, So many doctors...so many preferences. Unless you see something on here (or any other site) that says specifically that your doctor told them to xyz, then don't get too worried about it..and even if then, just call Dr. Cacucci's office and ask her nurse if it's something you should be concerned about. Some people, if their bloodwork shows an elevated liver or elevated blood sugar or (you fill in the blank) may be instructed to do something special to increase their chance of a risk-free surgery. If all the pre-op testing came back hunky-dorie, you may not be told to do anything special ****il dinner the night before). Really, just depends on (1) your surgeon, (2) your procedure, and (3) your physical condition. Sherri
