The latest on Jay...
Well...the cat-scan came back negative..kinda. There were areas that he believes were enlarged lymph nodes, but nothing that looked cancerous at this time.
Course of action:
The first choice, which we turned down, was wait and see. The surgeon said that in 30% of the cases, the cancer does spread. If Jay wanted to risk that, he could, but would have to have cat-scans and x-rays done every 2-3 months. We just don't want to sit around waiting for the anvil to drop on our heads. And get this...what they would be looking for is 'enlarged lymph nodes'....based on last night's cat-scan..???
The 2nd option, is to go ahead and remove all the abdominal lymph nodes that feed into that testicle. Once gone, risk of cancer there is also gone. That incision will be 12-14" long. They would sperm bank, just in case. This is the option we chose. The 3rd was still in the experimental stage and involved a massive chemo therapy.
They will rerun the bloodwork in 4 weeks. If the 'markers' have returned to normal, they will do the surgery to remove the lymph nodes. If the 'markers' are still elevated, they will retest in 2 weeks. If still elevated, then there is cancer somewhere that the scans aren't picking up on. Jay would then have to undergo chemo therapy.
We are on a wait and see until the end of February.
Thank you once again for all of your out-pouring of love, concern, and support. I do appreciate each and every one of you.

Oh what a roller coaster you and your family are on. Given the information that you have been given, it sounds like you all made a wise choice. I just wish everything could be done NOW, of course that's my impatient side talking, rather than having to wait until the end of February. It's so hard to see your kids hurting. You are all in my prayers. Karen
