Update on my son

Pre-op, the surgeon came and talked with Jay, Bill & I. Jay's bloodwork showed that he did indeed have cancer. The entire mass, testicle included, was removed. Imagine the tummy tuck incision from pelvis bone to pelvis bone. His incision starts at the left pelvis and extends about half-way to the right pelvis (~6-7"). They kept him overnight so they could run more tests (cat scans and x-rays). The mass was sent to pathology, where it will take 3-5 days to get the results back. The surgeon will have the results back in the morning for the x-ray and cat scans. At that point, it'll be determined what happens next. If the cat scan shows that it has spread, he'll have another surgery to remove all the lymph nodes in the abdomon. If they test positive, he'll have to go through chemo. If the cat scans shows nothing, he'll have to be re-evaluated on a regular interval. I'm taking the morning off so I can be there when the surgeon comes in. I'll let you all know what is said, and what is determined. Thank you so much for all your prayers. I let my family know what was going on and NONE of them bothered to even send an email or text message wishing him luck or asking how it went. You all truly are my family. Sherri

Sherri, so sorry to hear that Jay did indeed have cancer. I am sure tonight will be a rough night for you all as you await tomorrow's information. He is young and that is good. My prayers are with you all. Karen

Oh Sherri I am so sorry!!! I just got in from class and had to come see the update. I had been hoping for better news than this. I will continue to pray for you and your family. Find strength for Jay and Bill, that is why God made us women so strong. We can lift each other up with our sisterly love and help each other support our families (kind of like a real supportive and loved bra, the ones that you have for years and always choose to wear, even when the elastic is shot and they have been mended over and over again). Big Hugs and Blessings, Carmen

Oh Sweety, My heart goes out to you all. Jay must be devistated, as I know you are. I woke up several times last night and said a prayer for Jay. I wish that there was something I could do or say to ease his pain. Remind him that he is loved, just as he is. It makes me so : furious with your family's reaction/lack of support. Having several family members who have /had cancer myself, I know how important support is. You have mine, my Sister and I am here for you. Please let me know if there is anything at all I can do- you have my cell number- just call. I will keep you all in my thoughts, heart, and prayers. Love and ((((((hugs))))), Ellen

Sherri, Thanks for keeping us posted. I was just thinking about your son's situation today and wondering how it was going. I will say a prayer that all his nodes are negative and that all the margins are clear! Ken

Sherri, Even when our children are "grown" we are still mothers and it is so painful to watch them suffer in any way. I'll pray for good results on the biopsy of the mass and for your peace of mind and strength. Linda
