Hi! It really depends on your insurance and your doctor. From my first consult in March 2005, it took till August 05 to get the surgery actually done. My insurance needed a lot of pre testing done since I have a history ofheart problems, so that took some time. Once I got everything they needed, it took 6 hours for them to approve me. I had to supply all my diet history records too, what diets, how long on em, how much lost and how much regained. Now though, most insurances require a six month doctor supervised diet before approval. good luck!! Blessings! Betsy
