Hi Linda: I don't remember seeing if you have insurance apporoval yet or not. Most times the amount of time to get scheduled for surgery vaires with insurance acceptance and surgeons schedules. I've seen it noted from two weeks to months or yr's if there is insurance problems. You are certainly not to old. If I were asked for one piece of advice on what to do pre op it is exercise as much as you can. I feel the biggest contributor to how fast and how well you recover is how good of shape you are in before you go into surgery. Even if it is only walking, walk 5 or 10 min more each day. Not everyone is able to do this. Even though I am (52) 5'4 and my starting weight was 325 I was in pretty good physical shape becasue I do barn chores daily and walk.I'd get real tired but I still had good lung capacity and muscle tone. I had no complications after surgery. I was walking a mile on the treadmill 4 days after surgery.
Yes, everyone is different. There are no gaurentees anyone will come out complication free but I wanted to do what ever I could to give myself the best chance for success. This surgery is amazing. It is the tool that I needed. Good luck.
