1 Week Post-Op
Well, I have survived week one, although it was not pretty at times. I found out after three horrible days of being nauseous and bloated that I was lactose intolerant (wish I had put 2 & 2 together a little quicker.) I am happy to report that today, for the first time, I got down every pill, supplement, fluid, and meal that I needed to, including a whopping 82 grams of protein! Yeah!
Am I loving this? No. Am I able to see the light at the end of the full liquid diet tunnel? Yes, and I want to sincerely thank those of you *****plied to my somewhat desperate post last week! It was a huge help. And a special thanks to my WLS-buddy Ken for SUCH support and comfort during this.
So, life is good. My tube is out, I am comfortable without my Lortab, I have lost 11 pounds this week, and I only have 3 weeks until I can sit and have a smaller, but similar, meal with my family (I am already planning!)
Thanks again to all of you here!
Belle
Thanks Karen and Ken! What a journey this is going to be!
Christina- Yes, I was so excited. It has been a lot tougher than I expected, to I have had some let down. I was definitely wearing rose-colored glasses about my recovery and how I would feel. SO, don't get down if the first week is a tough one! Good luck!!!
Belle,
I'm glad you are feeling better. I am about 9 1/2 months out now and I just wanted to let all you "newbies" know that it definitely gets better. I was about 3 1/2 months out when I woke up one morning and realized that...I didn't feel like I was just getting over major surgery anymore!!! It's not that I felt bad exactly, I just felt tired and a little drug out and then, one morning, I didn't! It gets a lot easier once you can start eating about 4 oz of food too. At that point it is much easier to eat "a meal". You know, some protein AND some veggies instead of one or the other. It also gets much easier to get your total daily protein and fluids in then.
Have a great day.
Cindy
