Darrah, I don't know the history, but it sounds like this was not a surprise. Regardless, it is so hard to lose a parent. My father died on my 20th birthday. Although we knew it was imminent, I still found myself completely unprepared. I hope this process is as smooth as possible for you and you have a safe trip.
