I am new here I live in terre Haute Indiana I am ion the process of getting my surgery scheduled they are just waiting for my pulmonologist to give his release I will be going to st vincent caramel with Dr Diaz. DO anyone know if there are any support groups close to Terre Haute thanks, Kathy

Hi Kathy. I live about twenty minutes east of Terre Haute. I think I saw on this site that there will be a meeting at St Patricks church in the rectory on Poplar and 19th. It will be on 1-29-07 from 1830-2030. I am scheduled for surgery on 2-2-07 so I plan on attending to calm me down before the big day. My pulminologist is Dr Bhuptami and he wrote a letter about my sleep apnea and emphysema. I was approved before I could send it in so I have to say God has smiled on me from day one one this journey. Dr Bhuptani is my pulmonoligist as well I see him on 1-24-06 for my release I have to wait on it and for dr ton to write a physicians referral letter before I find out my date but they said they should be able to do it pretty soon. my surgeon is Dr Diaz at caramel st vincent

Hi Kathy, I'm from Terre Haute, also. There will be a Terre Haute support group, but it's not an official St. Vincent support group, so if you need to get attendance verification prior to surgery, you will need to attend one of the St. V support groups. If however, you just want some support and to meet some people who have done wls, welcome to the Terre Haute meeting. Linda Vicory

I'm not running it, but I feel pretty confident that you'd be welcome. I've never seen a support group that didn't welcome pre-ops too. It will be the 29th at St. Patrick's Rectory in Terre Haute, from 6:30-8:30pm. Linda Vicory

Hi Kathy: I'm not sure about the support groups in your area but generally it seems they are pretty much open to pre-op and post ops as well and friends/family around here. Best wishes on your scheduling. Claudette

I spoke to the lady at St PAts and she said the group is for both pre op and post op so I made arrangments with my dad to watch the kids so I can be there. I can't wait to see you all Monday night.
