Hi everybody! I'm four days out of surgery and just wanted to drop you a quick update and a thanks. First, thanks Scott for dropping in to see me and for calling. My voice has been gone for the last two days but I'll give you a buzz today. Thanks for posting an update for me as well. Well today is the first day I have felt anything even close to normal. The bowel gas has been a major problem for me. It's finally going away and letting me breathe and drink and eat a little. For that I am very thankful. I'm taking lactaid now with anything that has even a hint of dairy in it. I'm still shopping around for a tolerable protein supplement. I had one today that I think I'm going to be able to stand without too much trouble. I have had half of it already today! I'm a little behind on water so I'm going to focus on water today and trying to meet the protein goal. I have yet to get in over 35 grams or so, but i'm better with the water. Usually about 40-60 oz. Thanks all, for thinking of me while I was away! Now I'm really looking forward to teh clothing exchage in April and meeting all of you in person. I should have A TON of men's clothes by then to give away. I'm already starting a box in anticipation. See you soon! Ken

YEAH! Congrats on feeling better and getting through the rough part! I think we are in the same boat. Anything dairy is killing me, but since it is the only way to get protein I am taking Lactaid left and right and still only managing 30 or so grams! What is the supplement you found that you seem to be tollerating? I cannot wait to meet you, and all the other great people here, at the April clothing exchange! Belle

Hi Belle, It's Worldwide pure protein shake at GNC. 2 g carb, 35 g protein in a 12 oz can. I am tolerating the banana right now. It's think, which I like a lot. It's minimally flavored. the problem I have wiht isopure is that artificial nasty cloying flavor. I wish I could just try one without any flavor, just to see if i liked it. If you run across a plain one, let me know! If I don't stay with the one above, I'll probably go to profect as well. I don't want to get too behind on the protein. Ken

Hi Ken, I posted yesterday about what people liked with protein. I got a lot of responses back that said they liked the Body Fortress at Wal-Mart. Also, I went out on bariatriceating.com last night and ordered the sample basket. With shipping, it was $30.00 for 15 different samples. I'll let the group know what is in there and how it is once i get it. Tania

I have two protein supplements that I use from GNC. Both of them are premixed, "Grand Slam 50" and "Body Extreme 50." Both have 50 grams of protein and only 3-4 grams of sugar. I have been able to tolerate both of them and I am able to get the whole can in a day.

Glad to see you home. The first few weeks you wont be able to always get all your protein and fluids in due to a fresh, sore lil pouch. Just do the best you can. I felt so overwhelmed the first few weeks trying to get protein, fluids and vitamins in. It does get easier. Welcome to the losing side of the bench!!!!......DEB
