Hello All! My name is Amy and I was told about this site from another WLS site that I have been a member of for the past eight months. I wanted to introduce myself and let you all know that so far from what I have read, the posts here are a wonderful source of information and inspiration. I will be having my surgery (RNY) at St. Francis. Has anyone else from Indiana had it there? If so we may have met at the support groups! I have completed my six months nutritional therapy and have resubmitted my application with all the insurance company requested after my first application. Hope to get to know all of you while we go through this journey together! Oh, and I almost forgot. . . . .GO COLTS!

Amy, Welcome to the site. I know there's others here who went to St. Francis. If you post who your surgeon is, I'm sure you'll find others who had the same one. As your surgery date approaches, feel free to ask any questions or express any concerns you may have. There are friends here at every step of the journey...thinking about having weight loss surgery (WLS), in the approval process, waiting on surgery (pre-op), and various length of time post-op. In other words, you'll find understanding and support no matter what stage you are at. If you ask something and don't get a response...it does happen now & then...people may just not know how to answer you. Don't give up though...ask again! Other times, you may only get 1 reply...and that usually means that no one can think of anything to add to what the replier said. Other times, you'll find 20 responses, and many of them agreeing with what one or 2 have said. lol. You just never know. Just don't get discouraged if it's a 1 reply day..k? You may want to check out this site good. There are feedback sections (on the left side of the screen) for surgeons, hospitals, and insurance companies. Those, I found very useful when I was at your stage. Also, feel free to check out people's profiles. Some of us has had complications (they call them a 'risk' for a reason) and you could see what kind, what was done about them, and probably most important, how did the post-op feel about WLS after having had them. You can also get journalling ideas, recipe ideas, and protein ideas. I would make sure I had a notepad handy to jot down/or a Word document up to type up the wealth of information you can get! Feel free to join in on any activities and get togethers that we have. We usually post them well in advance so you can mark your calander. Sherri

It was wonderful to wake up this morning and see so many responses! Thank you all! My doctor is Jonathan Mandelbaum. I am impressed from what I have seen at his office and also what I have found online regarding his practice. But, he is the only doctor that my insurance will cover for the surgery. That being said I kinda wish I had more of a choice. Just to see what else is out there. I am having the gastric bypass. I have a current BMI of 43 and am ready to get this going. It was funny, my last meeting at the nutritionist I felt like I have made it! That was three weeks ago and I finally received notice that the insurance company received my application and have planned to review it on Tuesday! On a different note. I have a beautiful dog that saw her first snow this morning! I havent laughed so hard in such a long time!
