Doing a happy dance

I met with Dr. Inman yesterday and the nutritionist at St. V's. I got good info on transitioning to the next food level. It sounds really exciting to get some new tastes. I weighed in at 368 on the day of my pre-op testing and yesterday I weighed in at 330! I was so excited. That was what my home scale said but I was just sure it was wrong. When I got to Dr. Inman's office she reminded me that I had gotten down to 353 the day of surgery, and so in actuality, I have lost 23 pounds as a result of my surgery. Either way, I am thrilled. She decided to keep my g-tube in for 3 more weeks just in case anything else crops up, not that she was anticipating anything but she would just feel more comfortable with it in. PICC line to come out on Tuesday after scheduled blood draw. So far so good on the coumadin. So I guess I am really on my way. Looking forward to the shower next Saturday. See you all then. Karen

Way to go Karen! I so glad things are finally improving for you. Glad I didn't have a G tube. But they use them if necessary. Not sure if I can make the shower:What time is it and where? I've kind of missed that info somewhere along the way. I have a hair appointment at 8 that morning but other than that I'm free I think. I would be fun to go just to get together. Maybe I could bring some clothes since I couldn't make the exchange. If anyone else from up here up north is going down let me know. Maybe we can go together. Anyway Karen I plan to see you at the Feb Ft. Wayne support group meeting!

That's great Karen! I am so happy for you! That's a drag about keeping the tube, but three weeks isn't so long in the greater scheme of things. Can't wait to see you at the shower. Linda Vicory

Karen, Hon, that is fantastic! 23 lbs after all you've been through of not being able to walk!?!? That is great! Now that you are getting around a little better, those pounds will just melt off. I'm glad we'll be seeing you the 27th because once April gets here (and the next clothing exchange), it is going to be hard to recognize you! Once you are line/tube free, you will be amazed at how much better you feel. I'm glad the coumadin is working good. I think Bill was on it for about a year and then his blood work came back that he could be taken off of it. Can't wait to see you girl! Sherri
