Has anybody had a revision or can you tell me what a revision is? How do you know if one would help?

Lucretia, I do drink decaf diet soda some...one can a day, 3-4 days a week. I was allowed to after 6 months, but I waited until I was about 2 yrs post-op. I think the biggie is to make sure you are still getting 64 oz of water and not replacing it with all soda. Also, drinking it slowly so the carbonation doesn't hurt your pouch. It probably takes me 1-2 hours to finish a can. My favorite is Bargs Diet Root Beer. I have had a revision, but mine was when I was only 6 months post-op and was due to the stoma perforating. In my case, the pouch (about 4 oz by then) was sectioned down to 1 oz and the intestines moved to there. I did start all over food-wise. Recovery was about the same as it was for the original RNY. Dr. Gupta did both. Is your bariatric surgeon around here? If I were you, I would make an appointment with them or with another one if they aren't around here. Dr. Gupta,Jones/Caccuci have taken other surgeon's patients in the past when their surgeon wasn't available. They would be best to judge how appropriate a revision would be for you. A revision would be just as effective as the RNY though if one is needed because of the pouch/stoma not doing the job effectively. Sherri
