I hope I dont becom...
Christina,
Congrats on your uncoming surgery. Also, welcome to the board.
Myself, I liked milk before and it was fine afterward...for about a month. Then I had to lay off of it for about 6 months before I could handle the taste again. I had never tried the CIB pre-op...and post-op, hated it. The sf chocolate seemed worse than the sf vanilla (and that was pretty bad to me too).
Because so many of us has had changes in our taste buds is why we recomend to any pre-op to not go out and clear the shelves of any one thing.
Good luck...
Sherri
I have not had problems with skim milk. I can drink 1% in a pinch, but not more than one serving. Anything with a higher milkfat content and I
.
I like the sf chocolate CIB. But I find I like it better with a bit more milk so the flavor is not as strong.
My taste buds are becoming more sensitive and I am becoming more discriminating about what I eat. I go for quality not quantity now. My new motto is "Eat Petite."
Best wishes,
Annette

The higher the fat content in the milk, the worse it is for me. Shortly after the surgery, I drank the powdered milk recipe w/2% milk. Extreme Lactose Intolerance!!!
I quit the recipe, and I went to 1% with some lactose intolerance.
About 2 weeks out, I went to skim. I drank a lot of skim without much problems. All the milk I drank did cause diarrhea, but 60 oz of milk a day with no real food--there will be problems. At least I didn't have the cramping and gas!!!
CIB--I can take it or leave it. I prefer to just drink more milk. The CIB is better if you mix it in a blender the night before you plan to drink it.
I reccommend Calorie Countdown Milk. It is yum! It tastes like good old-fashioned full fat chocolate milk.
You will get a little burnt out on milk. That is a fact. I like to take mine with my decaf--especially in this cold weather.
I liked skim milk before surgery but the boyfriend drinks 2% so I would drink that as well. I was slightly lactose intolerant with some gas etc. After surgery, I tried milk and OH HECK NO! I thought I was going to die. I now still enjoy milk but I go the Lactaid or soy route.
As for the Carnation Instant Breakfast, I love it! I do the no sugar added Chocolate every morning with about 8 oz of soy or Lactaid milk. It's a great protein punch to start the day! CIB is one of the only things I bought before surgery that I actually liked after! The Crystal Light, protein mixes, etc...not so much! Like Sherri said, don't go clearing the shelves of anything quite yet!
Good Luck with your upcoming surgery!
Sam
