I went to my first doctors visit and she was wonderful. She was very open about the WLS. She wanted me to choose a surgeon she gave two referrals one to Clarian Bariatric and the other to Carmel Surgical Specialist. I am going to go thru some people's profiles to see where you all have gone but any ideas or thoughts would be helpful. I can't believe it this is so exciting. Robin

Robin, I really don't know anything about Clarian. Who are the surgeons that were referred? I had Dr. Gupta up at Carmel St. Vicent. She is in a group with Dr. Jones & Dr. Cacucci. All three are terrific. I love St. V's bariatric unit. I think you'll hear that from everyone who has been there. Welcome to the site & to your weight loss journey! Sherri

Robin - first of all welcome to the board. I just had surgery with Dr. Margaret Inman on Dec. 20. I also went to St. Vincent Hospital in Carmel. I would make no changes. I had several complications and I always felt like I was in extremely capable hands not only with Dr. Inman but also at the hospital. I was in two separate times to the hospital and it was neat to see that many of the nurses who cared for me the first time remembered me, so that made me feel that I was just not another patient to them but a real person. Also the bariatric unit is built for the larger person in mind. I didn't have to worry if I was going to fit in the chair in my room. Good luck on starting the process toward WLS - it is so exciting! I had Dr. Inman at St. V. too! I thought she and the hospital were great. I went to three different consultations with different doctors before I chose her. I would advise you to "shop" until you find someone you feel confident with, be it Clarian or St. V. Linda Vicory

I can't speak about any of the surgeons with Clarian since I had Dr Clark through the Community Hospitals Network. However, I have attended some of the cooking classes that Clarion Bariatrics puts on and I can honestly say that the support network they provide is fantastic. They offer both traditional bariatric support group meetings as well as these cooking classes and both are open to everyone, not just their patients. Although I was very satisfied with my surgeon, if I had it to do all over again, I would seriously consider the Clarion program. Good luck to you. Cindy

Hi , I had Dr. Inman for my surgeon, and think she is terrific! I also went to St.Vincents bariatric Center of Excellence. The treatment I recieved on the Brariatirc floor was full of compassion and caring. For me, it was a great experience. I agree, you have to find the one that you feel most comfortable with. Best wishes on your journey to wellness! ((hugs)) Ellen
