Last we came home from the Clothing Exchange and shopping excersion to find the mail sitting on our couch-one for Dana & one for me. Well-
Mine is to notify me~SOMEONE IS SUING ME! Yep- you read it right. I had a car accident back in June when a gal was driving down a closed road & slammed into the side of my car-totalling it, & I ended up in the emergency room. There was posted signs that said "road closed" and it was the right of way-but it was closed. Anyway, I did check twice before pulling out. She is suing for pain & suffering-huh? Good thing I have Liability on my Ins. I am turning it over to them Mon.
Dana recieved a letter from Alcoa saying we OWE them $880.00 since they overpaid him too much when he retired. Huh?? Also, we paid the $150.00 deductable they want for our Ins. monthly, and now they're going to deduct it from his retirement check before we get it- OH BOY was he
!!!
Needless to say, this put a damper on what was a great day. Oh well, it is only $$$-right??!!
IT WILL ALL GET BETTER-
TOMORROW WE ARE CALLING BOTH PLACES AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.
Wish us luck- and your thoughts/prayers are appreciated.

Ellen,
I'm sorry you & Dana came home to such crappy mail. Sometimes, red tape is frustrating and the stupid things people do (like suing you) to create it is even more so! Good luck tomorrow sweetie. And as you said..it's only money. I know it's better in your pocket than someone else's but not worth getting shook up over. Just have a plan of attack to counter it. That's all you can do. Can you tell Bill & I have found ourselves in similar situations in the past? They turned out ok, and yours will too..

Wow, I don't see how she can sue you, if she hit you. The nerve of some people. She sounds like she's just trying to get $$$ out of it. I am sure the insurance will take care of it for you. Sounds like you're going to have a busy Monday, calling these places. Try not to worry over it too much. I am sure it will all work out.

Hey sweetie...
You probably won't get alot accomplished today. Many places are closed for MLK Day. I know Bill needed to make some phone calls and those places are all closed...and I needed to send a package to Hong Kong (eBay purchase gone bad!!) but PO closed too. But.....here I am at work...
Here's my car wreck sue story:
I had owned a '98 Prism. In 2003, I was in 2 wrecks with that car. Neither one my fault, both times the wrecks were witnessed by police officers, and both times the front crinkled like a piece of paper. So...I knew how fragile the front bodywork was.
Then I sold the car to my daughter in 2004. On a rainy day...much like today..Tiffany was driving behind this little old lady. This lady would speed up and then slam on her breaks...repeatedly. She even did this when both of them were in the left turning lane. You guess it. During one of her drive and slams, Tiffany slid on the water soaked road and wasn't even sure if she even touched the old woman's car. But the old lady came flying out of her car and make all sorts of accusations to Tiff. There were people stopping and getting angry at Tiffane because the way the old woman carried on, they thought Tiffany hurt her and intentionally rammed the back of her car. There was not a single scratch on the Prism. No paint transfer. No dent. No nothing. A few weeks later, I got a letter saying I was being sued since I was still officially the owner of the car (interestingly, Tiffany's name was not included in the suit). I called my insurance and reminded them of the damage they had covered for the Prism for my 2 wrecks and suggested that they inspect both vehicles for any damages to either one. That was the last I heard of the law suit. I guess the old lady didn't want the insurance to view her car.
So....a law suit is just a piece of paper when there is no justification behind it. You paid the insurance for a reason, time to let them fight it out for you.
Wish I had a good story for Dana's but been in similar situations and did have to repay for their error. Seems to me like it should come out of the paycheck of the one who made the error!
Huggs!!
Sherri
