Deja Vu
Today was my first day back to work and I feel like I almost never had surgery at all, and I don't mean that in a good way. The stress and work and worry is all back and I responded in true form by eating eating eating. I didn't eat anything that I wasn't supposed to, but I did eat what feels like half my weight in soy crisps and low carb yogurt. I feel bloated and disgusting. I hate it when I do this, and I'm so disheartened that it has happened again so quickly into the process. Years ago, before I had my children, I went through a pretty serious bulemic period, and I have found myself today wanting to "purge" because I can't stand this guilty feeling I have about the eating. I wonder when I will ever find a way to deal with my stress without stuffing my mouth.

I know its hard.... It's hard enough coming back to work after being on extended leave, and you have to learn how to deal with stress in a different way. Don't let yourself take the same road that you used to take. It doesn't solve anything, it just creates more problem. I would just chock this up as a learning experience, tomorrow is a new day so put it behind you. Spend a few moments thinking of things that you can do when you get stressed. Here are some things that help me: step outside for a few minutes, go for a short walk around the block, fill up the water bottle, close my eyes and put my head on my desk and just relax and breathe for a few minutes (it sounds silly but it really helps), write in a journal, look at pictures of when you were heavier, etc). Best of luck to you!!

Hi,
First off, quit beating yourself up! Next, remember you are feeding a baby tummy & it can only handle a little bit of food.If you aren't careful it will
on you- and believe me-IT ISN"T PLEASENT!! PAIN & AGONY!!! Also, it can damage your tiny pouch- it hasn't healed yet fully.
Your job sounds stressful - perhaps you can take a quick walk when you are wanting to eat. Sip your water- it does help fill you up. Try the flavor packets- like SF. crystal light- they do taste good. Also ,eat your protien first- it will fill you up faster. Watch out for "chips" of any kind. They can set you up for other "snacks".
Just remind yourself why you decided to have the surgery- have a photo of yourself at your heaviest and look at it when tempted. You are so new to all of this- give yourself a break and keep focused on your recovery. Everything starts with the first step in the right direction. There will be a few "bumps" in the road- but you can get over/around/thru them!!!!
Hang in there, be gentle with yourself .We are here for you!
((((gentle hugs))))
Ellen
