It's a piece of cake. You will probably be dialated, you won't remember a thing. The drugs they give you are great. The nurses started an IV in the pre-op area, they wheeled me back to a room, not an O.R. room, just a room with a bunch of TV screens. Dr. Cacucci was there and a nurse, who said "here are your meds for your little trip" put them in my IV then said tell us as soon as you feel it, I started to get that heavy feeling said "i feel it" next thing I know I'm waking up asking my mom if I had an ulcer, her answer "you've asked me that 7 times" "no ulcer". I remember nothing, I was awake though I guess, because I kept asking the nurses if we could sell the good drugs on E-bay. Mine was for an ulcer, but sounds like yours is for a stricture, same procedure and Dr. Gupta and Dr. Cacucci do it the same way. She will just dialate you so food can get through, its usually caused by scar tissue, and is quite common. I'm sure Sheri will respond too, she's a pro at it. Just wanted you to know that it is nothing to worry about. Good luck, I'll be thinking about you. Sarah

I had an endoscopy & colonscopy all in 1 hr. and believe me, I was glad to be put to sleep! Be sure to have someone take you, and don't worry, it is over before you know it!!! You won't remember it, and will probably ask several times "am I ok??" I was thirsty afterward, so took a bottle of water with me for the trip home. I pray the answer is "YES, YOU ARE FINE" for you, too! (((HUGS))) Ellen

Since I've been called a pro at it, you KNOW I had to respond! Seriously, nothing to worry about. Dr. Gupta is tops! Have someone there to bring you home because you won't be able to drive that day. Beyond that, you should feel mucho better! Sherri

Shawna, I was worried too when I found out I had to have one. Had the same problem you did, couldn't keep anything down. Dr. Gupta did mine. Once they give you the medication thru your IV, you won't know a thing until you wake up in your room. I definetely had a stricture. I was down to 2mm. Dr. Gupta stretched it to 12-15 mm and boy did I feel better!!! I had to go back a week later to have it done again, just as a follow-up per Dr. Gupta's orders. Everything has been fine since then. Good luck, and let me know if you have any other questions Tina
