Sunday morning!!!
Gee, where did this weekend fly off to??? Tomorrow...back to work...and for FIVE days! LOL! Actually, it does feel good to be back to work.
Now....Linda V...The Lasik Vision Institute....
I had my consult/exam there yesterday. It took ~2 hours. Because I'm into the bi-focal stage of my life...don't giggle you young ones! The 40's creep up FAST!...after I get the lasik done, I will have to wear reading glasses. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather have to wear them when I read than when I drive or walk down a hall. Their prices START at $499. That is for the basic Lasik with no lifetime guarantee. I opted for the custom-vue (more precise with better results) and a lifetime guarantee nationwide (so if I need a touch-up after I retire, I won't have to fly back to Indy to get it done!). That is a whopping $1699 per eye. Which is still a few hundred less per eye that what the other places prices started off at. They do not do insurance there at all. So if you have optical insurance that would cover lasik (most don't), then you'll have to submit it to the insurance to get reinbursed. They do have finacing at 0% interest for 24 months. If you go there, please let them know I referred you, k? (Sherri Johnson) Oh..it's no problem getting in to see them either. I called Tuesday I think, and got in on Saturday. They were going to schedule my Lasik for this Thursday but I needed to have it when my daughter was available to drive me home, so I'm having it on the 19th.
In the meantime...got alot going on before then! LOL! First things first...what am I going to bring to the clothing exchange???? Food-wise. Clothing wise, until I have my PS, I'll probably have very little to bring. Food-wise...hmmm..I am seriously thinking about making my sf eclairs.
Sherri

Good morning everyone. I am hoping to be at the clothing spree next Sat.
Sherri were do you get all these great food ideas. I have tried to make stuff up with out sugar and use splenda and the food most of the time dosen't come out right. It dosen't usually rise and is like undone. What am I doing wrong? Or should I find a book on recipes for making with Splenda? Oh just heard the weather looks like winter is a coming.
Lisa B

Lisa,
I've bought the Splenda cookbooks at Sam's. You can also get ideas at Splenda.com. I think the sf eclair recipe came from a diabetic eating magazine that I picked up at the check-out at Kroger's. Or you could look on my profile....lol! Splenda shouldn't affect how something rises though. That's a yeast/baking powder thing. I have found that I can usually substitute splenda for sugar at the same measurement. Some recipes though, taste better if you only substitute most of it...like if it calls for 2 c of sugar, put 1 3/4 c splenda and 1/4 c sugar. That little bit would keep your sugar grams pretty low still.
Don't worry about winter rolling in. It's suppose to be warming up again Thursday and Spring by Friday! Even I can handle a three day winter!! I WISH that were all the 'winter' we got this year!

I'm so ready for the clothing exchange! I have a basket of stuff to bring. Can't get rid of all of my bigger clothes, cause I'm using them as maternity clothes currently. I think that's another reason I feel kinda depressed about my WL. 10 months later I'm still wearing a lot of the same clothes. Did a boatload of walking at the stadium yesterday and it didnt seem to bother my foot much, so I think I might try a walk again today. Maybe my foot has healed up on its own. Of course, everytime I think that, the pain comes back and it swells back up. But I'm going to give it a wingding anyhow. Ill just walk not run, and not my old favorite 3.5 miles. I was REALLY winded going up all the stairs at the dome last night and I thought to myself "how could I have gotten THIS out of shape in just 4 months? i used to run 3.5 miles a day!" And then I remembered: someone is crowding my lung capacity. So then I didnt feel too bad. Looks like from what I see on weather.com, I better get my booty out there today and get the walking done before the... SNOW... comes. Isnt it spring yet?

Thanks for the information, Sherri! The costs for that, with the guarantee are about the same as here in Terre Haute, so I'll probably just go ahead with here. I go on the 15th for measurements, they said it would take 3-4 hours, and then I can have surgery on the 17th. I am so excited. I have worn glasses for 20 years. (I could just never adjust to contacts.)
I am really looking forward to the exchange. It will be great to meet you all. I am wondering about bringing something. I don't cook much, as I am still pretty early out, and can't eat most of that stuff. Is there anything else that could use brought? Ice, Crystal Light, cups, plates??? I forgot the who is setting it up, but if you read this and need something please let me know. I would be happy to help out.
Today I'm at work at the DV shelter. It's been a wild weekend here. I hope today is more calm than yesterday. Tomorrow is my first session back with the personal trainer. We work on weight lifting together. I am so excited to go back. I felt really good when I was working with her in the fall. I am 1/2 excited to show off the 41 poudns I've lost, and 1/2 nervous, because I don't know if she's one of those people who look down on wls. I guess I'll find out.

HI!
I am looking forward to the clothing exchange and have been bagging up a bunch of things- I even have 2 coats for the taking. Hubby brought a big tub full of things I had packed away, and I found some winter "jammies" as well.
My daughter gave me a Splenda cook book she got at Sams and I get monthly emails from Splenda.com full of ideas.
See you all there,
Ellen
