It's Thursday!
Today I am up to 40 pounds gone! HipHip Hooray! I am also going for my lasik consultation today. I really hope I am a candidate. I have nearsightedness, but also an astigmatism. I would love to lose the glasses. Started to check out plastic surgeons, since I need to have some kind of idea on what kind of money I will need to have. Has anyone here used/heard of Dr. Turkle and associates? Just wondering.
Have a great day!

Linda, I think most people that are St V patients are referred to Dr T & Associates. I'm nowhere near ready to schedule my consultation yet, but I've heard good things about them. I think Sherri, Carmen & Pam all have consults coming up with them. When I eventually go for my plastics, I'm estimating about another year and a half, that's who I'll be going to.
Baby Dr appt is tomorrow. I love going if for no other reason than to hear the baby's heartbeat. I'll be having my fantastical gestational diabetes test, and Im worried about dumping on the super sweet crap Im ging to have to drink. I expressed my concerns about this test with the OB, she pretty much said "too bad, youre taking it anyway." I cant wait til the baby gets here and I dont have to deal with this woman anymore.
Darrah, I would talk to Dr. Cacucci and see what she thinks of the gestational diabetes test. Maybe she knows of another option. I would think they could do blood tests too to test for that. I got that test with all three pregnancies of mine and it's not fun under normal cir****tances. Just remember if you really think you'll dump and get sick, you don't *have* to do it.

I'd be concerned about that glucose challenge also. We only give a 50 gm dose for the first screening but that goes up to 100 gm and a 3 hr test if the first is elevated.
I don't know if that is standard policy all over but it is for all the doc's in my area. Perhaps you could ask if you can do a fasting glucose and one 1 or 2 hrs after a normal meal. 50 gm of sugar is like 10 jelly beans. Pretty sweet.
Good morning everyone! Today is going a little bit better than Tuesday or yesterday did. Maybe I'm starting to get back into the swing of things at work. I had to take my left shoe off for awhile yesterday afternoon....good thing I was staying at my desk! LOL! Anyway, was given my first assignment for the year and it feels fantastic to know I have a project to sink my teeth in to!!!!
Linda...I have an appointment Saturday morning with the Lasik Vision Institute. (Does anyone know anything about there????...it's at 147th & Meridian in Carmel). I was pricing around and this place has national offices. The offices here in the Indy area charge $499-899 per eye. Quite abit more affordable than some of the ones I called at $2500 per eye. I think the big difference in cost though is that the expensive places do alot of research for other eye problems (like Bill's artificial cornea) whereas the LVI only does Lasik. I have the consult & physical Saturday morning but I will probably wait a month or so to actually have it done (so I'll have the $ to pay cash for it...they will finance at like 27% interest!).
I also have an appointment with Dr. Turkle next Tuesday. I know I can't have that done until the fall so I can save up $ and FMLA time but I want an idea of how much more I SHOULD lose, how much it's going to cost, and what all procedures she will recommend. That said, I don't know if I will actually go to her to have the work done though. I had made the appointment because of the wonderful things I heard about Dr. Grasse. Dr. Grasse is no longer with her and is opening up her own office. If you look on the reviews on here, Dr. Turkle's reviews are good on here, but it is Dr. Grasse who has the raving reviews in Dr. Turkle's office.
Darrah...I had to drink that yummy orange drink when it was determined I was hyperglycemic. It didn't make me sick....and 1 too many sugar-free cookies can flip my tummy real easy. So I wouldn't think you should have too much of a problem. The biggest issue was me trying to drink it as quick as you're suppose to but I managed it...woo-hoo. Good luck tomorrow!!
You all have a great day!

Linda,
I had my surgery at St. V's in Oct 2005..w/ Dr. Gupta. In Sept. 06 (about 3 months ago) I had a TT/abdominoplasty and a BL/BA (Breast lisft/Breast Augmentation)....Dr. Turkle did a fantastic job. I had lost close to a 150lbs when I had my PS....I am 5'8 and started out at 334 and wearing size 30's.....now I weigh in at around 174 give or take 4 pounds and wearing size 12's (some 10's) I would like to get down to about 162...but my body seems to like this size, as I continue to exercise and watch what I eat...the scale just isn't dropping.....for now I'm very satisfied and happy.......however the next St. V visit I am going to speak with the nut. about my stall. Dr. Turkle is wonderful.....however know that the TT/ Abdom. is not a piece of cake.......I was off work for 5 weeks and the first week back I was not ready...it takes a lot out of you....I am 3 months out and am still swollen a bit and have to watch lifting things. Overall though I would do it again. Keep up the good work and if you have any more questions feel free to ask.
Take Care,
Vickie
