Ok, so I have "graduated" back into the regular diet. I am having a hard time finding things that I can eat. Are there any cookbooks, or anything out there, that I can buy to maybe find some bariatric friendly stuff in it? I just dont want to slip back into my old habits that got me where I am now. True, I have lost 64 pounds, but I still dont want to put it back on. Please help if you know of anything. Thanks, S.

I"d go to the library and do a search for bariatric foods or bariatric diet. I have found several books with good recipes, one called "Before and After." The website "Bariatriceating.com" has some mail order things you can use. There should be a recipe forum on here, huh? Congratulations on the 64 pounds. That's amazing in a little over a month.

last time I was at St. V to see the dieticians I saw a notice in the loby that they have a Bariatric cookbook available. I was going to ask for it but spaced out and forgot once I was in talking to her. So if you go to St. V or know someone that is going there you may be able to get one there. Good luck and keep up the good work!

Hi Scott, Here on the OH site under forums there is a forum about cooking and baking. I have found some pretty tasty things on there. Maybe this can help you until you find a cookbook. Hugsss, Tammy

I eat shrimp, pork chops, refried beans, cheese, turkey, ham.. I didnt have alot of problem because my favorite food has always been meat. It is the side items of potatoes and break and dessert that made me fat to begin with so I just AVOID THEM Good luck, Linda

Scott, For deserts, I bought a couple of Splenda cookbooks. You can also get recipes at Splenda.com. For main dishes, check out those for diabetics. They are usually low carb & sugar-free. Be careful of sites like foodTV.com. Their recipes aren't really bariatric friendly. Stick to high protein, add in some colorful veggies, and keep the carbs low...and brown! The only 'white' that is good on a plate comes in the form of meats & dairy! Fruit is good for you, but choose wisely since some of them is packed with natural sugars. If you're looking for a particular recipe, jump on here and ask. I'm sure the Hoosiers on here wouldn't mind sharing their rendition of it! Sherri

Scott, There was also someone on the Men's board that had written a cookbook. I'll try to find that post and let you know. Looking forward to meeting you at the clothing exchange. Hopefully I have some things you can use. Congrats on the great weight loss. Keep up the good work. See you on the 13th. Floyd

St. Vincent's has one offered by one of their Dieticians. It has recipies to take you through all the phases of what you are allowed to eat. It was 10.00 or 10.50.
