Hi my name is Beth and I am from Attica. I have not been on this site for quite a long time. I use to get on here regularly but sad to say not anymore. With that being said I regret to say that the reason for my visit here is not a good one. I thought though that some of you might want to know of the passing of Mary. I do not have alot of information at this time I just know that she passed away this evening and they will be performing an autopsy. For those of you who may have got to know Mary know that she has had heart problems for quite sometime. Please put Mary and her family in your prayers. She may have had a bad heart, but it was a big heart and will be sadly missed by many a people!!! Beth Askren Re-birthdate 8/5/03 Dr. Inman

OMG I am so sorry to hear this. You are right she had a very big heart and Ive missed her posts over the past week. I had no idea she was having complications. She seemed so happy and content last Tuesday night at the Christmas party. I consider myself very lucky to have known her for the short time that I did. She will be missed by many of us here. This is a sad day. Pamela

Beth, Thank you for letting us know. Mary was such a sweetheart and I know she is going to be missed by her family and friends. When the phone rang tonight to tell me about your post, I was thinking that it was going to be her bubbly voice on the other end. What a shock to learn of her death instead. Please let us know what the results are of the autopsy, when you learn them. For the newbies and pre-ops out there: Mary needed to have WLS, yes because she was morbidly obese, but mainly so that she could have a much needed heart transplant. I am suspecting that her poor heart just couldn't hold out any longer. Also, please let us know when the funeral arrangements are decided. If there will be a memorial fund set up to help with the costs, please let us know that as well. Mary wasn't on our board for very long, but she was certainly a well-loved member of our WLS family. I feel very blessed that I was able to have the conversations I've had with her over the past few months. Sherri

I am so sorry to hear of Mary's passing. It less then a week ago that I met her at the Party. We laughed a lot. She was so much fun. It is hard to believe that she is gone. She seemed to love life and obviously lived it to the fullest. We all could learn a lesson from Mary. Please let her family know I am praying for them during this difficult time. Carolyn

Beth, Thank you for shareing the news.. It saddens me when one someone passes. She blessed so many. To the newbies. Pre op and post op.death is a fact of life. we knew it before surgery.. we were killing ourselves by eatting, Suicide by food..But the awful thing is once you cross the obesity line it is almost impossible to loose without the help of surgery. My hope is you continue to enjoy YOUR journey. work towards surgery and demand your insurance work FOR you not against you. and once you have surgery... remind yourself daily the blessings you are going to recieve by your sacrifice. (giving up your best friend-food). Remember prayers are always with the surgery patients and remember just because Mary passed away she is in a better place and God DID heal her... just the way HE chose to not the way we wished it could have been. HE knows what was waiting for Mary.. Linda

I am so much in shock that I cannot express it! I didn't sign on last evening which is unusual for me so I thought I better check things out this morning. I sit here in absolute shock! I still have a picture of Mary on my desk from last week. Her bubbly spirit and wonderful zest will be a great loss. I am sure God must have needed her brightness now rather than later for some reason! Mary........you will be missed! Claudette
