Medical Update

Good evening my brothers. Well I went to see my back doctor today and he looked over the MRI reports. Seems I have two real bad pinched on the right side of my back. He did nerve block injections into that area and wants to proceed with the left side in early January. He does not feel that surgery for this type of pain is needed at this time. If these nerve block injections do not cut the pain then he will set me up for a consultation with a back surgeon. Right now the right side feels fine but the left side is giving me terrible pain down my leg. He also put some injections in the left side but did not go as deep into the spine area as he did on the right side. He put a total of 12 injections on the right side and 3 on the left. God I hope this will clear up the problem without another surgery. So time will tell. Prayers are still needed so I can get active again and do some exercises. Dan

Good Evening to you Sister Dan (former papa dan), Im glad to know they are finding what is causing your pain and that the treatment is making a difference....Just sucks that they can only do one side at a time. Kiddo I know I deserve that. I will learn to check a post that I copy and paste. I have learned my lesson. I just hope now that the injections hold for awhile. I really was upset that I have not been able to attend the various functions. I pray that 2007 brings me some good health. Dang getting old is hard to take. Seems like all the parts of wearing out. I also need to get off all this pain meds that makes me feel like I am in la la land. MaMa Dan

Hey Bro.. if it helps any Hubby has had 5 spinal surgeries for ruptured discs.. and then when they decided they couldnt do any more surgery.. and h e has 2 more ruptured discs.. they decided to give him injections... they really do work.. not immidantly.. or permantly but they do work.. it took 3 sessions for Ron to get lasting relief from the leg pain each injection lasted a little longer.. he hasnt had an injection in over a year!! Doing the injections FIRST is the way to go!!! And could you imagine how much it would have hurt had you NOT lost all the weight!! Blessings to you and ANN Linda

Hi Dan, I work in Vocational Rehabilitation. My .02 is that I would be very cautious in considering back surgery. I have seen a number of people who have come out of it feeling worse than they felt before. Of course, being that's my job, I may just be seeing the minority who have had problems, still I would be cautious. Good luck, I hope those injections work. Linda Vicory
