Ok, had my first experience yesterday throwing up, since surgery on 11/20. Don't know what really caused it though. I thought I was eating slow enough. My stomach was just icky all day yesterday. And when I did throw up it was just mucus (gross sorry), and then gassy heaves after that. You know like lots of burbs together? Today has been better. I have just been eating really, really slow to make sure everything stays down and doesn't upset the pouch. So far, so good. Any ideas what could have caused this yesterday? Thanks, Tina

Hey, I had my surgery on 11/21! I haven't thrown up at all, but had this thought. It might not have been anything you did. It is that time of year for bugs to go around. Maybe you caught a 24 hour type of thing? Hope you're feeling better. Linda Vicory

sounds like you over filled... I get the burps when I do that... either that or you took a drink (instead of sip) and forgot you are not to drink for 30 minutes before or after you drank.. If it lasts... dont hesitate to contact Dr and JOURNEL it so what ever you did.. y ou wont do again. Linda

It could be something that you ate had either to much fat or surgar also. I've only done it twice. Both times it was after eating the same thing. I was at a restraunt and had scrambled eggs. I was upset with the watiress the first time and I know I ate to fast so I thought that was what caused it. The second time it happened with the eggs at the same place I know I didn't eat to fast. So since I don't have problems with my eggs at home I decided it must be the grease they use when scrambling the eggs. I don't go there any more. Hope you don't have any more problems.

Tina, So many things could have caused your experience yesterday. It could have been one of the many things suggested already, or it may have just been a bad day for your pouch. We are use to pre-op having stomachs made of steel. Shoot, they had to be in order to tollerate all we put in them. Post-op however, our pouches can be picky eaters and change from day to day. When I have a bad meal or a bad day, I just take it easy for 24 hours before eating 'normal' (my post-op normal). As Linda said, journal the experience. Put as much info as you can...when you drank last, what you drank, what you ate, how much you ate, your mood, how busy were you, etc. If it happens again, look back at yesterday's journal entry and see if you can find something in common. It could be as simple as 'eggs' (restaurant scrambled eggs use to get stuck on my stoma because they were too dry) or it could be the start of lactoce intollerance. Good luck...and Tina, it does get easier. Sherri

All, Thanks for the suggestions. Sunday was better. I just ate everything really, really slow. I ate some of the same things on Sunday that I did when I threw up on Saturday, and it didn't happen. So I am going to chalk this one up to just a bad pouch day? Hopefully that is all it was. Just got worried since it was the first time that it happened. Thanks everyone! Tina
