What kind of excercise do you do?

I really enjoy working out, honestly. I love walking, and usually do 1-2 one hour walks a week when the weather permits, but what to do during the winter? I live in a rural area and the only place anywhere near me is Curves, which does not offer childcare. What kind of excercise do you do? How much do you work out post-surgery? Anyone have any treadmill recommendations? It is a big investment, so if that is the route I go, I would love any input. Thanks, Belle

I bought a treadmill and gazelle post op. I use the treadmill a lot but this summer we walked outside most of the time. I just bought the BEAN. (check it out on the net) I bought it on an EBAY auction so I didn't pay full price for it. I love it so far. I just have to keep motivated to use it. It's like a exercise ball for pilates but it is bean shaped so it is easier to use. I need to work on my abd, hips and butt so I thought this might work. Nothing works if you don't use it so make sure it is something you'll do. The Bean is easy becasuse you can do it at home and watch TV while you are doing it once you learn the exercises.

I am only allowed to walk at this time. I have a treadmill at home, but it gets boring to walk on a treadmill. I can't wait to be released to exercise, as I am going to go back to the local Y and go to water aerobics classes again. If I can scrape up the money in the new year, I am going to start working with a trainer again, too. Did during the fall, and we worked on weight lifting together. I really enjoyed it. Linda Vicory

I bought the Weigh2Win excercise video. It is designed just for bariatric patients and includes three skill levels. The first is for pre-op to 6 mos post-op, the second is for 6mos-1yr post-op and the third is for after 1 year post-op. It is a good starting point and something to add to your walking routine.
