Hi, out there! This is my first attempt @ chat. I have my psych appt today. I'm planning on RNY, but have talked to 3 co-workers who had the"switch" Don't know what to do now. Any suggestions or info?

Who's your doctor and do you really trust them? I talked with my Dr. about the foods I really like to eat, and what my troubles are and she recommended RNY. I had been thinking about the lap band. Anyway, I have alot of trust in Dr. Inman, and I went with her suggestion. Linda Vicory

Threll, First of all I agree with Linda talk with your Dr on your choice you have made. Is there a reason the others you talked with had the switch done? I had the RNY done 6mos ago today and I am very happy with all the results I have and more to come. I am down 82lbs and with no complications as of today. Bonnie

Threll, Normally, the switch (DS) is performed when the person's eating weakness is high carbs (potatoes, pastas) and the RNY if it is sugars & sweets. Dr. Inman is a terrific one to discuss the differences with. Sherri

See what your insurance covers. I don't think I would like "the switch" because it makes you have to poop all the time. Right?? Not interested in that. Have you been to your surgeon presentation? Mine gave us all the pros and cons of all of them.
