they are taking my drain out tomorrow
Sharon,
They do it really, really quick. For my RNY, the drain was shorter than it was for my gall bladder so not too bad at all. It's not painful as much as it's just uncomfortable. It is well worth it though because you are going to be absolutely amazed at how much better you feel by just getting that sucker out! I know I didn't sleep well post-op until the night I got it out. Slept like a baby that night!

It is about 10 seconds of OUCH.. then you feel better than you have in WEEKS.. the relief of having it out and somehow the discomfort I felt just melted away.. Do as she says take a deep breath hold it until she says its out.. (you'll know). It will be over before you know it.. and your journey will begin in style.. you thought the journey started on surgery day?? NOPE it is the day the DARN drain comes out!!
Linda
no pain with taking it out, and I did feel better....so much better I think I overdid it a little that afternoon. Couldn't sleep at all that night, had so much pinching and burning in the one incision, the one where they send in all the stapling equiptment.....the only one that's ever hurt, actually.....but I'm glad its out.
