I got approved and I have my date!!
I know I haven't posted on here for a while but I have great news... Last monday November 27th.... I got approved for my surgery... I'm having laparoscopic vertical banded something or toher with Dr Kadarabek on February 14th... no chocolates this year for me... It was either the 14th or the 7th of March.. My boss told me I could do it on the 14th if I was back at work for the 26th through 28th of February as it's the end of our first quarter... i told him i would be but probably on pain pills... I don't want to wait... I'm sooo happy!!! So i'll be posting more and getting to know you guys. I can't believe that Cigna approved me!!! WOOHOO!!!
Does anyone have any tips about what i should start doing now to get myself prepared?
SO thankful and blessed,
Jessyca
I would do things to get you into the best possible shape for surgery... like if you can start walking every day, now. That might be helpful. I know two months will seem like a long time, but it will go by more quickly than you realize. I had to say my goodbyes to foods I loved in the waiting time. For example, I love festival foods, so I went to the Covered Bridge festival, and tried a bite here and a bite there of the different foods I loved, so I could get one last taste. It was probably silly, but when food's been a good friend for so long, it would be hard just to 'go cold turkey'.

Congratulations! I know how long and hard the road to approval can be.
Your surgeon will probably give you instructions about a low carb, low fat diet for the 2 or 3 weeks prior to surgery to allow your liver to shrink and soften. This make the lap procedure easier with less chance of bruising your liver.
But I agree with Vicky, now is the time for your "farewell tour" of all your favorite foods.
Enjoy!
