First Post
Good evening everyone! My name is Mike and I will be having Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass on December 12th at St. Vincents in Carmel, IN. I have had my pre-op testing as well as a Cardiology appointment. It looks like all systems are go! Tuesday is my Nutrition Class. I am starting to get nervous, but also excited. I hope to be able to use this forum to help me through it all.
Welcome Mike, you have come to the right place. I am scheduled for testing on Wed. and Nutrition class on Thurs with surgery coming up on Dec 20 with Dr. Inman. I also will be at St V's. I think that's the only place to be. You will learn so much on this board. I know I have. You'll also make some new friends. I KNOW I have. In addition to reading the postings, you can click on anyone's name at the top of their posting (except mine
) and get more info about their amazing journey. We also have several guys who post on this board that you can connect with too. I haven't figured out the whole blog part yet. I am sure if I really took the time I could do it, but haven't so far. Good luck and keep posting. No question is too slight. Someone has some answers. You will be in my prayers for a speedy recovery and save me a spot on that Looser's Bench since you'll be on it a little before me. Karen

Mike,
Congrats on your journey so far. Who is your surgeon? I think you are going to find St. Vincent's a dream! The bariatric wing is just terrific. You just feel well-cared for there. The nursing staff is so understanding of the bariatric needs. You will love them!
If you weren't getting a little nervous, you wouldn't be normal. Whew! You're normal! LOL! Just be sure to ask any question you have and that will help. If you think of some after your nutrition class, call your surgeon's office & ask them...or try asking it here. We have quite a few post-ops here that doesn't mind popping on and helping out. If it's something that we think you'd be better off asking your surgeon, we'll tell you that too. And as was already mentioned, we have several men on here too, do if it's a 'male sensative' question, feel free to ask them.
There's many forun's here on OH that you might would like to check out. To name a few: men only, RNY, surgery anniversary date.
Looking forward to getting to know you!
