Hi everyone, I am currently waiting for insurance approval and am wondering if any of you had her for your Dr. If so, how long did you have to wait to get a date after you were approved? Thanks!

I saw her for my consult on Feb 2 2004 and then went on vacation like a week later. When I got back from my vacation the first week of March, my letter of approval was waiting in the mailbox. I had to wait for her office to receive it from insurance, but once they did, I was scheduled right away and had my surgery May 12, 2004. So it wasn't very long for me. She is an EXCELLENT surgeon and personally I think she is the best! Good luck to you!

Jami: Ask your health carrier to fax a copy of the approval letter. I faxed the approval letter to Dr Inman once I received it and then called to get things moving along. (I have no patience if you couldn't tell ) The scheduling process happened very quickly. Dr. Inman has a great group of ladies working for her. I'm sure they will move things quickly. Best Wishes and big hugs Claudette

Thanks Claudette, hopefully things will move along. I guess I should just hope for an approval first and then worry about getting a quick date!

I didn't even realize I was approved yet, and they called me. It was less than a month from when Dr. Inman's office called, to my date. I actually had to move it back a week to have time to do everything involved getting ready (FMLA papers, etc.) Linda

That is awesome Linda! I see your date is in a few weeks, I wish you the best of luck! I hope you have nothing but smooth sailing ahead...

Colleen at Dr. Inman's office told me that the average wait for a date after approval for a RNY is 3 months. However, I received my approval and faxed it over to her office on April 22, and my surgery was scheduled for May 26... so it was less than 5 weeks! I was both surprised and ecstatic. Just FYI - it did take about a week after I faxed over my approval letter for the surgery scheduler to call me with a date - and that was a hard wait because I was so anxious! So keep in mind that you may not find out immediately, but hopefully the news will be good once you do! Also FYI - she's a fantastic surgeon. You'll be in great hands.

Im really glad to be getting so many positive comments about what a great surgeon she is. I am hoping to have my DS in January. God willing! Thanks for the info!!

One thing I didn't think to mention, Jami, is that I had RNY... I recall that the estimate for scheduling a DS was a little longer than for the RNY. However, it seemed like the scheduling was a lot faster than the estimates anyway. Best of luck, and I really hope they are able to get you in for your January goal!
