Found out.......

That the new insurance that my hubbys work is changing over to (BCBS of illinios) will cover the weight loss surgery! As long as it is medically necessary. Which why would I have it if it wasn't. I am so happy. I want to start on the dr diet this month so I can have the surgery in april or may. So all you ladies that have BCBS what do they require? I am so happy I am so happy Robin

Robin- I am very happy for you! I am not sure what diet you are talking about, because I was not on any diet before my surgery. I had BCBS before my surgery and was approved with in 3 days. Then we got new insurance {anthem} just before my surgery and had to put in for approval and heard back in 24 hours. So my experience with them was very positive. I will hope your goes as well! Robin: I have BCBS. They required a 6 month supervised weight loss plan. I had to go to the doctor monthly in the 6 months so the doctor could show that I did everything possible to lose the weight, short of surgery. They will make note of all the diets that you have tried and failed. They may have you keep a journal of your intake as well. I had to have a psych evaluation and some additional medical testing such as upper GI and pulmonary function. My biggest suggestion for you and your doctor.....document....document....document. The more "proof" that you can provide to BCBS or any of the health carriers will help. Best Wishes and big hugs Claudette
