I am trying to get in to my PCP and no luck, what will happen if I have a sinus infection the day of surgery?

Check with the Surgeon but I think it would depend on how bad it is and if you are running a temp. If you can get into your PCP and get on antibiotics now you should be fine. I know I was terrified of getting sick before surgery and having it post poned. Mine was January 17th and my daughter came home at Christmas with the flu. (not just sick, diagnosed by dr as the flu) I was terrified I'd get it. I don't think you'll have a problem if you keep up on things now. GOOD LUCK!

If you are unable to get into your PCP, can you go to a walk in clinic? I know in Terre Haute, we have Ambucare, where anyone can go anytime they're open. It might be an option. Linda

I wind up having to visit the Immediate Care by our house every time I have a surgery! Without fail, I will get a sinus infection and/or brochitis within a week of the big date! Shoot..I have no idea what it's like to go under without having an anti-biotic in my system beforehand! LOL! No wonder I've never had a post-op infection. If you can't get in to see your pcp..which, mine is NEVER there when I need her...visit a walk-in clinic. They are usually great to work with and they also try to keep their costs fairly low. Hope you get to feeling better soon. You do have about a week to get most of it out of your system and that should be plenty of time. Sherri

Thank you much, my PCP actually just called in some antibiotic for me so, that helped. I was thinking of going to a walk in clinic. but I got saved!
