I had my latest podiatrist appointment today. The foot is still swollen but now he's saying that it probably will be to some degree for another month or so. The xrays showed that the bone is healing the way it is suppose to. The toe isn't bending though. He said that there is scar tissue built up in it so I have to do exercises to try to bend it back & forth to force the scar tissue to break down. I also have to begin an ice/exercise regiment on the other foot because the ligaments didn't improve any with the steroid injection he did in it (at the time of my surgery). After next Wednesday, I'm to start trying to wear a regular shoe on the foot that had the surgery (and start wearing the boot some on the other one...still, to try to improve that darn ligament). My next appointment is on the 27th. It depends on how much the swelling has gone down, the flexiblity of the toe, and how well I'm doing in a regular shoe on if he'll release me then to go back to work at that time...which will still be a week later that I had planned. My foot/toe really didn't feel too bad when I went in there today..until he started messing with them. As soon as I got home, I couldn't wait to get ice on it. Doctors! LOL! Sherri

Sherri!! Glad to hear that you are going to be able to wear real shoes again!! Thats always an exciting day for you. Just want to let you know from someone who has had 19 foot surgeries, dont try to wear it all day. What I did was was work up to a full day, 2 hours at a time. (best to do when you are still off work), that way your foot can get used to the shoe, and you can realize what its going to feel like to wear them again. (Does that make sense?) Hope this helps, keep me posted. S.

Hey Sherri, I hope your feet are feeling alittle better by now!!! I know it hurts, but do those exercises. Just don't over do it with the shoes,ok?! I know in a few days you'll be celebrating your 2 yr. recovery-hopefully you'll be soon!! Just wanted to say what an inspiration you are to me, & others. (((hugs))) Ellen
