greatings from southern Indiana

Hi, I am new to this page. I live in southern Indiana I noticed that most of you are from around Indy area. Is there anyone from the south. I really need to lose weight but do not want surgery at this time. I work nights and thats is when I do the most of my computor time. My kids are on the one at home all the time. I look forward to getting to know you

where in southern Indiana do you live? I live in Linton. Kylie

I am in Mooresville but that is so close to Indy it's not funny.. (country girl at heart). This is the place for support.. you may have to remind us you haven't had surgery or our advice may seem a little off.. THIS surgery promotes LESS FOOD More Exercise.. we loose because less food goes in.. WE eat 90% Protien and 10% fruit and Veggies.. VERY little starch (pasta) Hardly any bread.. some of us can get down WELL toasted but why waste the room on calories.. YOU can try this too...Eat chicken (not fried), cheese sticks and protien drinks, as ANGIE would say SHRIMP IS GOOD FOOD.. not fried... AND EXERCISE.. if you are the size I WAS then walking is about all you can do.. so WALK!!! Ride the stationary bike and sit in y our chair and lift weights while watrching tv... GOOD LUCK!! Linda

I'm not sure how far south you mean, but I live in Greenwood. I haven't lived here for very long, but it is on the south side so maybe it's in Southern Indiana? Anyway, welcome to the site and well wishes on your journey! Carmen

Hi Dawn, When I think of 'southern Indiana', I think 'near Kentucky'. Am I right? Depending on how close to the border you are, you may want to check out the KY board as well. Of course, you're welcome to this one too! Many of us are from the Indy area..but don't let that stop you from participating on here. While most of us on here have either had weight loss sugery or are in the process of trying to have it, we do understand where you are at. You'll find there is alot of great ideas on here. My own suggestion would be for you to visit SparkPeople.com. It will help you build a weight loss plan tailored around you and your needs. It includes dietary changes, yes. But it also includes exercise (with demo's on how to do them), water intake, and educational articles. Another good site is Fitday.com which can help you track your food intake. I'm a scientist by trade so I definately have the attitude that you don't know what to change if you don't know where you are at. We're looking forward to getting to know you! Sherri

Hi Dawn, I am from the Seymour area. Is this around your area? It took me a long time( about 3 years) to have surgery had alot to think about. After reading and and talking to people I am so glad I had it done. I lost a 148 pounds in 10 months. Feel great. Hi Dawn! I'm from Columbus. Great to see you on the site. There are a great group of folks to chat with here. I'm waiting to appeal my surgery approval for the time being. I have learned so much from all of them. If you have a question/concern don't feel afraid to ask anything here. I look up to them in guiding me on my journey!! Nice to see some "southern folk" here!! I'm not from Indy... I'm from Terre Haute. I think this site is pretty supportive whichever choice you make. Linda
