Good morning everyone! Wow! I can't believe no one had already posted!?!?! Wake up you sleepy heads! Yesterday, I tanned...and yep, got a sock tan line! LOL! And then I wrapped my foot up and took a wonderful shower! The surgeon didn't say to wrap it up but he did say that if the butterflies come lose, I'm to go back and see him before the 13th. I figured that the less water that hits them, the better the chance of them staying on. I think I'm going to tan again today...just because I can! I hope you all have a good day! Sherri

Well my day started off just great. I went to get my son up to go to work and couldn't wake him. He's 20 and on an insulin pump. I checked his sugar and it was 31. Gave him a glucagon shot to bring up his sugar. When he started coming around I made him drink a regular coke that we keep on hand for just such occasions. I don't know if he will ever take good enough care of himself to live on his own. I just kept thinking of what whould have happened if no one was there to see that he wasn't waking up. I know we will get thru this I just don't know how or when. Blech! it's raining. AGAIN. Really suits my mood. I was taking a vacation day today. What a wasted day.

Jan, That is so scarey! The lowest my sugar has gotten is 34..and I don't know what kept me from passing out. Mine isn't from being a diabetic but from being hypoglycemic. It's not so bad now that I know what foods to avoid. I think it's real hard for young people to get the idea that they aren't 'normal' when they are diabetic. My brother...when he turned 21, wanted to go out drinking like other guys we went to school with did. He was stupid enough to think he could just up his insulin to make up for the beers. I think it took about 5 yrs for his sugars to stabalize...for HIM to stabalize. But he did finally grow up and start being more responsible with his health. Your son will too. I always look at rainy days as 'me' days. That's the perfect day to read a book, get a manicure/pedicure, go shopping, watch a movie, or just plain ole be lazy. Turn today around by pampering yourself! You'll feel better for it! If nothing else, draw you a bath...put in some wonderful smelling bath oils....bring a magazine in there with you OR light some scented candles and turn off the lights. Bring a cup of decaf hot tea with you. Lock the door from the rest of the world and relax! Huggs... Sherri

Good Morning! I am sitting here at my parent's house waiting for my mom to get off of work so we can do some shopping, get nails done, etc. Went for my 6 week follow up and according to their scales I'm down 28 pounds. Thats about 4-5 pounds off from home so I'll take it. Everything is looking good. I was released to exercise etc. I also was told I can start eating protein bars so I think I'm going to get the South Beach bars to try. Angie I too will be at the Colt's game tonight with my dad. We are in section 147 if you stop by! Hope everyone has a great weekend!! Sam

Good Morning, everyone! Sheri - you look great with a tan. I wish I could tan....pasty-white German genes here. I'm glow-in-the-dark white.... I've tried and I think it just reflects off me... Hope your foot is feeling better. I'm trying to hobble around w/out my crutches today, but I've got one incision that wants to bleed every time I move. Dr told me to put butterfly bandages on it and re-do the ace bandage to keep more pressure on it. Wow, Jan - that's scary! Diabetes is a scary thing sometimes. My sugars have never gotten that low, but I start feeling shaky when they get to about 70. Maybe this will scare him into keeping better watch over it. Samantha - have fun at the Colts game! I really want to get to a game this year - haven't been in a couple of years...mostly because my butt and the dome seats don't get along... I've come away from games with bruises on my hips from trying to squeeze into those seats. Hope it quits raining.... I'm probably just gonna veg today and watch the US Open. Bren

My day got off to a... okay start I guess, I was awake driving to work anyway. Kinda bummed cause only one of my friends remembered it was my birthday yesterday and called... and my dad forgot too. HUbby was sad that he couldnt afford to get me what he wanted to (because we have to make our final carpayment this weekend, and its huge not to mention other bills). He cried, so I had to console him, even though I really didn't feel up to it, and could have used some consoling myself. Besides, the jellybean was a great gift At least its friday, its 2pm and the day is over for me for work and no work again until monday at 3am hope everyone has a great weekend!

I hope everyone has a great day. I am just sitting here being lazy until time to get ready for work. I decided to get all of the laundry done yesterday. Today I made some pinwheels. I used the whole wheat low carb tortillas cream cheese, ham, olives, green onion, and green pepper. I put them in the refrigerator for a little bit and then took them back out and cut them into bite size pieces. Seem to taste pretty good. I just wanted to try them to see how they would taste because next saturday we have a big cook out to go to and I wanted to take something that I could eat with me since the main meat they have is hotdogs that you roast on the fire. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know. Kylie
