Blue Cross of Indiana.......do they cover the lap band?

Does anyone have this insurance and what has been your experience. I live in Kansas as does a friend who wants to get the lap band..........she has this insurance as the company her husband works for is based out of Indiana. Thank you Melissa

Probably the quickest way to find out is to call the toll free customer service number on the back of the card. That way if you have any other questions you can immediately get them answered also. Good Luck

My plan for bc of Indiana pays for both procedure RNY and Lapband. I choose Lapband. I was approved with the first letter. I have to pay a $1000 deductable. After you meet that they are paying 90% of the first $1000. Then they pay 100%. I fiqured you can't beat that. Good Luck Jennifer

Was sort of requirements did you have to meet? for example did you have to have documented 6 months in a medically supervised weight loss program or anything like that? My friend who has this insurance has not done this per say but has been to her doctors very frequently asking every time what can i do to lose this weight........... I am going to call her and tell her others have had the procedure covered. She will be thrilled!!!!!!!!! Melissa

I also have BCBS and was approved within 2 weeks. My Doctor wrote a very thorough letter (a copy is on my profile) and it did the trick. Sam
