Well i am having my bladder fixed by Dr. Huse on friday, i complained about it at my last visit and he is going to fix it for me. I am so glad i was able to get him to do it because i really like him and trust him and i had such a good experience with my Open RNY. Has any one heard of a rectaseal?(spelling) its where you get a hernia in the muscle between the rectum and vaginal walls. He is fixing that too. I Have heard that is kinda painful and that its worse than the bladder part. Any insight ???? I will be glad to have it over with. the bladder thing is really getting in the way of my excercise, I am walking 3 miles a day but have a hard time with abdominal excercise and that is what i really need. I am finally at 100 lb lost and feel great. thanks to every one who has been so supportive... Carla

Hi Carla, I can sympathize with the bladder issue and rectoseal (not sure of the spelling either). I have had bladder problems since my son was born (he's 12 now). I've had two bladder surgeries and gone through physical therapy twice. I also had a cystoseal (not sure of that spelling either). When they (GYN & Urologist) did my hysterectomy & sling procedure for my bladder they repaired the cystoseal, but refused to repair the rectoseal. They said it wasn't bad enough. They aren't the ones having trouble passing stool! Consequently, I can't tell you how painful getting it fixed may be. However, I can say that I didn't even notice the cystoseal repair (that is basically the same thing - a hernia in the vaginal wall, just not the wall between the rectum and the vagina). According to the Urologist, all they do to repair either of these is to pinch the stronger skin together and stitch it up. It eventually fuses together sealing the herniated tissue behind the stronger tissue. I've not had any more trouble from my cystoseal. Be sure to follow the doctor's instructions on lifting. That is one of the most imortant factors in the success of your bladder surgery. My son was only 2 when I had the first one done and of course he chose that time to fall down the stairs. What's a mother going to do but pick him up and check for injuries? That apparently tore one of my stitches loose and weakened the results of the surgery. After I had my daughter, I was a total mess. My sling procedure has worked much better. Good luck with your surgery. Cindy

thanks for your reply Cindy, i feel a little better about it. I know i have to do it so i guess i should stop worrying about it and just get over it. It will make life so much easier after it heals. He did say he is going to take out the herniated area in the rectoseal and tie the muscle back together so i hope it isnt too bad. i had stitches there after each of my two sons so i hope it isnt too much worse than that. I had a hysterectomy several years ago and the dr told me then that the bladder thing was common afterwards but its usually several years. i had my hysterectomy in 1985 and only started having bladder problems a couple years ago. The recoseal has only been bothering me for a few months. I was hoping to be having some abdominal skin removed at this point in the journey but i guess i will have to wait till next summer to do that now. I feel great so i guess that is all that matters. I can hide lose skin easier than i was able to hide the excess weight. Thanks for your reply, Carla

Cindy, Just wanted to update you on the surgery, You said you hadnt had the rectocele yet. It wasnt too bad. I had been having so much trouble with it and so much pressure and aching i felt actually better the second day than i did before the surgery. I didnt realize how bad it had been bothering me untill it wasnt.. It is uncomfortable but nothing like i expected at all. He done both procedures, the cystocele and rectocele and i drove myself home from the hospital the next morning. Its a fairly simple recovery it seems so far any way. Take care, Carla
